NEXT STOP...VEGAS, BABY!

For every team competing at the 2018 USA Curling Nationals in Fargo ND, the anticipation hasn’t been just about going to the World Men’s Championship.  It’s been about “VEGAS”!

To represent your country on the shiny pebble, with all the glitter of Las Vegas as a backdrop…that’s pretty special!  And for Team Greg Persinger of  Seattle WA., their season-long mission has effectively kicked into a whole new gear:  The 2018 World Men’s Curling Championship at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas – a city that knows how to rock in a lot of ways besides curling.

Persinger, along with teammates Rich Ruohonen, Colin Hufman and Phil Tiker emerged victorious in Fargo on Saturday, defeating Team Heath McCormick of Blaine MN by a score of 7-5.

“I don’t have any words to describe it. I never thought the way this season started that I’d be sitting here”, an elated Persinger said after the game.  Ruohenen, who skips the team with, Persinger throwing fourth stones spoke to the excitement of heading for Vegas. “ It was 10 years ago that I made the Worlds with Craig Brown in Grand Forks and it was incredible there. I can only imagine it’s gonna be bigger and better in Vegas because I know a ton of people that are going!”  Added Persinger…”the hardest thing is gonna be keeping Richie out of the casino. It’s gonna be awesome playing in front of our home crowd. There’s people coming from all over. It’s going to be great.”

With this Team USA announcement, that only leaves Team Canada to be announced and that will happen Sunday night in Regina SK at the Tim Hortons Brier.  In turn, that will leave just three weeks for ticket-buying fans on both sides of the border to weigh in on determining who will have home ice advantage in Las Vegas.

Tickets for the World Men’s are priced from just $25 for single draw and 4 day mini packs start at $199.  All tickets can be purchased at the Orleans Arena Box Office, or online at LasVegasCurling.rocks
