FAN GUIDE

Whether you come from near or far, we are looking forward to welcoming you to the 2019 World Financial Group Continental Cup presented by Boyd Gaming.  This marks the fourth time in six years the event has called Las Vegas home.

To help you plan for your visit and make your attendance a truly memorable and enjoyable time, we are providing you with this fan guide, detailing various information covering from the time you arrive through the entire event.

Flying in to Las Vegas

Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport is conveniently located near the south end of the Las Vegas Strip.  Most hotels do not run their own shuttle service to and from the airport, but you should check with your hotel to see if they do.  The host hotel, The Orleans Hotel and Casino, does not have dedicated shuttle service.  Pay services are available.  You can learn more about them at:

https://www.mccarran.com/Transportation

A one-way taxi ride from the airport to The Orleans should run between US$25-$30, depending on the cab company.  The taxi stand line is located at ground level just outside the baggage claim area of the domestic Terminal One and International/Domestic Terminal 3.

If you use ride share services, such as Lyft and Uber, you can order your ride and catch it on Level 2M of the parking garage next to domestic Terminal One and the valet level of the parking garage next to International/Domestic Terminal Three.  Such rides run between US$13-20 between the airport and The Orleans.

If you rented a car, you will have to take the convenient free shuttle bus from the airport to the nearby rental car center.  Shuttle bus lines are located at ground level outside the baggage claim areas of Terminals One and Three.

Complimentary Shuttle Service

Complimentary shuttle bus service is provided between The Orleans Hotel and Casino, its sister property the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino as well as the High Roller Ferris Wheel on the Las Vegas Strip.  All shuttles will arrive and depart from The Orleans Hotel and Casino’s designated shuttle stop on the Tropicana Avenue side (south entrance) of the property.  Operating hours are from 9:00 am to 12:30 am daily, with pick-ups scheduled approximately every 45 minutes.

Event Listening Devices

If you purchased an Old Classic full-event ticket package, then you are entitled to a free listening device to help make your experience during the WFG Continental Cup that much more enjoyable.  That’s right, thanks to our friends at TSN, you will be able to listen to the world-class commentary of Vic Rauter, Russ Howard and Cheryl Bernard while in the comfort of your own seat at the event!  Please bring the specially marked ticket you received with your full-event ticket package to the listening device pick up booth at The Orleans Arena (near the main box office).  We strongly encourage you to do this during the Opening Ceremonies on Wednesday night, so you’ll have your listening device in time for the start of competition on Thursday.

Event Merchandise Store

If you’re looking to have some official 2019 WFG Continental Cup merchandise to wear or want to bring some home to family and friends, then the Event Merchandise Store is your one-stop place to shop.  Located across from the Orleans Arena main box office, the store will be in operation when doors open one hour before the start of each draw until one half hour after each draw ends.  The store will accept most major credit cards or U.S. dollars.

50/50 Raffle

It a curling tradition!  Hurry hard and get your 50/50 raffle tickets during each draw of the 2019 WFG Continental Cup. That means’s eleven lucky winners will win a pretty big pot of cash that just might pay off your trip to Las Vegas!  You’ll receive one set of lucky numbers for $5, three sets of lucky numbers for $10 and forty; yes that is 40 sets of numbers for $20.  So, visit the 50/50 raffle ticket station on the arena concourse near the main box office or buy them from one of our mobile sellers in the yellow bibs to secure your shot at a cool payoff.  Please note that due to U.S. federal tax laws, we can only accept U.S. dollars for the purchase of raffle tickets.

Opening Night Ceremonies – Wednesday, January 16th at 8:00 pm, Orleans Arena

Once again, the Opening Night Ceremonies is open to the public with free admission.  The Ceremonies will take place at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 16th in The Orleans Arena.  However, we hope you’ll plan to come early to cheer on all the competitors during their Grand March through The Orleans Casino and its indoor walkway to the arena at 7:30 pm.  This is a truly unique experience you won’t want to miss as the athletes walk down their “Hall of Honor”!

The Patch

What would the 2019 WFG Continental Cup be without The Patch presented by Boyd Gaming!  In between each draw you can get “Sociable!” with your curling friends…old and new!  The “World’s Curling Oasis” plans to, once again, offer the most unique Patch location in the world…The outdoor pool at The Orleans.  That’s right, back by popular demand after its debut during last April’s World Men’s Championship, the pool will be the party place to be between the morning and afternoon draws each day.  Then between the afternoon and evening draws and again after the evening draw head on in to the Mardi Gras and Esplanade Ballrooms on the convention/meeting room floor of The Orleans Hotel and Casino.  Tasty food, thirst-quenching beverages and all sorts of entertainment await you as you visit with family, friends and momentary strangers…as only curling fans know how to do!

#InTheHouse Party (location: The Patch Mardi Gras Ballroom B)

Pack your sequins and club jacket for a curling club party like no other!  Come party like a rock star immediately after the Friday night draw ends.  Meet fellow fans through the first-ever Intercontinental Curling Club Bingo game, dance your face off and learn to sing along to the Scots' favorite cheer songs, maybe even glimpse a few rock stars...   And really: rock that club jacket for some very special photo ops, both at the arena and the party... Feather boas optional.

Bring your Smartphone, camera or old time Polaroid to snap a shot or two with your favorites.  The women’s session is scheduled to take place in the bright sunshine of the Orleans pool area during the morning Patch.  The men’s session will take place on the 2nd floor of the hotel and casino near The Patch.

Entries will be judged, in part, based on the creativity of the image, as well as its clarity and the enthusiasm of those in the photo.  Entry photos will be judged by the Vegas Curling Rocks social media team, as selected by the LOC.  The judge’s decision is final, if the photo meets all rule requirements.

One winner will be selected during each of the eleven draws.  The winner’s photo will appear on the Orleans Arena video screen.  Winners will be contacted by the Vegas Curling Rocks social media team via the same social media platform the winning photo was submitted in a timely fashion.  Winners will be directed to a convenient location to claim their prize.  Prizes are as follows:
